John Ward has been Colchester United manager since May 2010, and in his first full season in charge, guided the Essex side to 10th in npower League One.
Taken under the wing of former England manager Graham Taylor at Aston Villa in the early-1990s, Ward went about working his way up the coaching ladder, eventually taking charge at York City, Bristol City, Bristol Rovers, Cheltenham Town and Carlisle United.
The 60-year-old is also highly respected as a scout and media commentator, and as a player clocked up over 100 league goals for Watford, Grimsby Town and Lincoln City.
